Omah grew up in Port Harcourt, Marine Base to be precise. His grandfather was a renowned drummer to the late Legendary Highlife singer, Celestine Ukwu.

His own father was also a drummer but was not really an accomplished one. This accounted for his love and passion for music while growing up.

Omah Lay Career

He began rapping on the streets of Marine Base at the age of 15 as Lil King. Omah decided to learn music production and went on to produce some records which got massive airplay in his locality.

He decided to pick the mic himself and released the singles “Do not Disturb” and “Hello Brother”. The songs put him on the radar as record labels began to notice him.

He went on to sign with KeyQaad in July 2019 and left his hometown and moved to Lagos.

He went on to release “Bad Influence” and “You” which put him on the map in January 2020.

On the 22nd of May, He dropped his debut EP which included the previously released ‘You’ and ‘Bad Influence’ on the 22nd of May, 2020.

The EP was an instant hit becoming the most streamed Afrobeat album on Digital stores like Audiomack, Deezer and Apple Music.

He was named Apple Music’s New Artiste of The Month in June 2020 and also
recognized on the March episode of Native Mag’s ‘Fresh Meat’ as an artiste to look out for in 2020.
