All Ghanaians and the world at large haven been hit by a virus which has shut down operations of institutions which education is not *exempted.*
As student-teachers who are preparing to hold the mantle of nurturing and engineering the young mind of our noble nation in the nearest time, and *at the time when we are supposed* to be at the college to learn in other to master and teach well, we are at home because of the Conoravirus.
Now there have been some development and developing agenda of online tuition which is a good initiative bat failing to address some of the *negative effect* it will have on the students.
Despite the numerous benefits of online tuition: helping students to catch up with time, helping the students to be active and acquiring knowledge, etc, it comes with its negative effects:
It affects those who stay at low net work zones. Ghanaians know that some rural arrears have net work challenge to the extend that they don’t even have network to make a call not even talk of browsing.
It also affects financial muscle of the students teachers. All of us know the charge of internet in Ghana is costly comparatively. It us obvious that it is not every student who can afford the continuous buying of data to study online.
Morever, it affects the visually impaired students since they can’t read the discussion online.
Furthermore, there are others who can’t afford smart phone. Such students are unable to follow the discussions.
What is more, there are some students teachers who don’t even know there is such development going on because once colleges go down, their phones practically stop functioning.
Last but not least, some lecturers will continue form where they end their online tuition when school resumes, and this will go a long way to affect the students who couldn’t follow the discussions online.
The online tuition is no doubt very important, but a closer look at it may help us other avenues to help all students.
