Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says Madagascar’s COVID-19 herbal cure sent to Ghana will be tested by the FDA before being used upon approval that it is efficient.

News went viral yesterday that Ghana has received Madagascar’s COVID-19 herbal cure as shared by the Ministry of Health.

Well, it has turned out to be false. According to Oppong Nkrumah, they have requested it and will be tested via the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) before allowing its usage

The Minister while speaking on GTV on government’s said: “We are considering it [the herbal cure]. We have reached out to them [Madagascar]. We have asked that it [should] be made available to us and like all drugs, it will be tested by FDA and in this case by the Center for Plant Medicine and if proven efficacious, we can recommend its use.”

The government had been bashed after the Ministry of Information’s official Twitter handle wrongly quoted Oppong Nkrumah as saying that “We have received the Madagascar cure for COVID-19 and we are testing it for efficacy.”

However, they failed to apologize.

Ghana so far has 6,096 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,773 recoveries and 29 deaths.

  1. This is an absolute shame, as this decision to send the medicine to be tested by the FDA is again bending towards those that have always degraded Africa and Africans and above all despising the efforts made by Madagascar and African Sovereign nation, This is why the Motherland will never progress. It seems that Pan Africanism and the great leader Kwame Nkrumah is simply ignored and that is a pity for Ghana…
