A former manager of Shatta Wale, Emmanuel Barnes who is popularly known as Mr Logic has backed Patience Nyarko’s assertion that gospel musician Joe Mettle is not the biggest act in Ghana.
His comment comes on the back of the latest list released by Billboard on the most-viewed artistes on the online streaming platform, Youtube across 11 African countries.
In Ghana, the top three artists who made it on to the list are Shatta Wale, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy with 13.26m, 11.72m and 7.86m streams respectively.
The list also had Celestine Donkor, a gospel musician and highlife crooner Kofi Kinaata coming through with 6.42m and 4.63m streams respectively.
On the back of the foregoing, Mr, Logic, when speaking on Hitz FM on the Daybreakhitz Show opined that the numbers give proof to Patience Nyarko’s strong opposition to the fact that Joe Mettle is Ghana’s biggest gospel musician.
“I’m shocked Joe Mettle is not in there. Can we say Diana Hamilton is the biggest gospel act in Ghana? We can say that! So you see people are attacking Patience Nyarko for nothing? Why wasn’t Diana Hamilton in the argument?
I was asking myself where is Diana Hamilton that they threw the argument beyond her? I know Joe Mettle is big but Diana was a past VGMA Gospel Musician of the Year.
Looking at the ranking she is the only one there. Does that mean Patience Nyarko has a case? Yeah seriously! That’s why it’s not good to take sides because some facts may pop up and you may be ridiculed, he told Andy Dosty.”
The Patience Nyarko – Joe Mettle debate has come up for discussion with many have mixed views about who qualifies as the biggest gospel musician.
