Policeman interdicted for alleged rape of suspect’s wife

A policeman at Manso Datano in the Ashanti region has been arrested for allegedly raping the wife of a suspect who is currently in police custody. He has also been prohibited from police administration.

The policeman was reported to have rape the suspect’s wife on so many occasions at the Manso Datano police station in the Amansie South District.

According to the victim, the chief inspector aggressively had sex with her while she sought bail for her detained husband.

According to the victim, the policeman offered her an accommodation because she arrived at the station late in the night only for him to sneak on her deep in the night to rape her.

The lady narated her sad story on radio interview on Kumasi based Nhyira FM.

The ashanti regional police command in a press explained that it has take serious view of the media report and has commenced investigations into the matter and any proceeding results will be communicated to the general public.

The police press statement, signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Godwin Ahianyo said, the entire body of the ashanti regional police will not hide officers who involve themselves in criminal acts as is the policy of the Inspector General of Police and the Police Administration.

“We are by this message advising the victim to report immediately to the Regional Police headquarters to assist in the investigation,” the statement said.
