Apparently, basic schools have been closed since April 2020 as a preventive measure against the spread of Coronavirus until 2021.

Now that 2021 is almost in the corner, there are questions as to if schools would be reopened especially now that there are reports of an upsurge in COVID-19 cases.

Well, the Information Minister in a tweet revealed today Tuesday 29th December 2020 that President Nana-Akufo-Addo would meet cabinet tomorrow to make final decisions on the possible reopening of schools.

He tweeted: “President @NAkufoAddo prepares to meet cabinet tomorrow for a final decision on the possible reopening of schools in January. Key on his agenda will be to examine the proposals for assuring the safety of our children, should schools reopen.”

He continued: “These decisions are not made lightly. But so far all his covid management decisions have been spot on. Fingers crossed, he will make the best decision in the interest of our children and our schools.”
