According to YouGov, Rishi Sunak is having his most difficult spell in the polls since becoming Chancellor of the Exchequer in 2020, with his latest approval ratings plunging 24 percentage points to -29 since delivering his widely panned spring statement.
In the speech, he was accused of not doing enough to address the cost of living crisis, and he made a number of uncharacteristic gaffes, including attempting to use his credit card with the incorrect type of scanner and revealing to MPs that he owns four luxury cars.

Rishi Sunak’s wife, Akshata Murty, 42, is a fashion designer and the daughter of an Indian millionaire. Because of her fortune and Mr Sunak’s past banking profession, he might be the wealthiest MP in Parliament.
The couple married in 2009 after meeting while studying at Stanford University in California. Ms Murty’s parents, N.R. Narayana and Sudha, started software giant Infosys in 1980 near Bangalore, India.
From 1981 to 2002, her father was the company’s CEO, and he turned it into a multibillion-dollar global conglomerate.
He’s been dubbed the “Bill Gates of India.”
Ms Murty is said to control 0.91 per cent of the company, which has won £50 million in UK government contracts since 2015.
She also owns Akshata Designs, a fashion label, and Catamaran Ventures UK Ltd, a venture capital firm situated in the United Kingdom that she uses to service and keep her personal riches.
