He previously played for Australia’s NRL’s South Sydney Rabbitohs and England’s Super League’s Bradford Bulls. The Rabbitohs won their first NRL Premiership in 43 years in 2014, and Burgess received the Clive Churchill Medal for being the game’s best player in the Grand Final. He represented the United Kingdom and England on the international stage.
Burgess announced his retirement from all contests on October 30, 2019, citing a shoulder issue as the reason. Burgess works as an assistant coach with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
