Young Sammy entered politics while in school at the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. He was initially part of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) but due to discrimination from fellow members, he joined the National Democratic Congress(NDC).
He was able to win the hearts of the TEIN-KNUST and as a result was elected the President in the year 2011/2012.
He was later appointed by the then Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly; Mr. Kojo Bonsu as his public relations officer.
He was also the Communications Director of Ibrahim Mahama’s Cubic Mining Group. In the year 2018, Sammy Gyamfi was voted as NDC’s National Communication Officer in November 2018 beating his contender Fred Agbenyo.
