Samsong Full Name, Age, Hometown and Early Life
He was born Samson Uche Mogekwu on the 30th of November, 1974 in Delta State, Nigeria. He goes by the stage name Samsong. He is 45 years of age.
He discovered his talent for singing while in high school. It was also in high school he was monikered Samsong.
SamsongHe attended college, and majored in Accounting and graduated from the great Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state. In 1991, he formed a quartet known as Praise Creation.
After his completion of primary and high school, he moved onto Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State where he got a degree in Accounting.
Samsong Career, Awards, and Nominations
In 1991, he alongside some of his friends formed a Quartet called “Praise Creation,” and through this, they were signed into the Ivory Music Label.
Samsong, Jahdiel and Joe PraizeAfter their signing, they released their debut album called “Best of Life” in 1996.
However, the group broke up after the release of this album and then he, Samsung became a solo artist and released his debut album in 2002 which he titled “Count Your Blessings.”
SamsongHis album was a success, garnering airplay, and resulting in winning The Psalmist Award that same year.
In 2004, he released his sophomore album which is titled “Still Counting.”
With this, he established a successful niche in the Nigerian Music Industry.
He has since then released a lot of other albums and is still regarded as one of the best in the Nigerian Music Industry.
SamsongSamsong has also done collaborations with the likes of Frank Edwards, Sammie Okposo and other top gospel artistes in the country.
He won the Best Male Vocalist of the Year Award at Today’s Music Award in 2004, and Best Male Vocalist of The Year Award in 2005 at The Amen Awards.
At The Vigoma Awards in 2005, he received The Best Video of The Year Award. His third release titled “The World of My Dreams” was issued in 2007, and was his most ambitious release yet.
SamsongHe embarked on an international tour to promote his cd, with stops at South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
In Germany, he had recorded and performed with Chris Lass, the famous German gospel producer, and artist.
His most recent headlining tour was in August 2009. He toured the island of Seychelles and was privileged to have dinner with the Vice President, Joseph Belmont.
