Sanya Malhotra started her career by giving several auditions until she was spotted by casting director Mukesh Chhabra. She began her career in 2016 when she was cast in Dangal along with Fatima Sana Sheikh who was also a newcomer.
In 2017, she worked as a choreographer for a song in Amir khan’s movie Secret Superstar.
In September 2018, she featured in a movie called Patakha by Vishal Bhardwaj. A few weeks later, in October 2018 she starred in a movie opposite Ayushmann Khurrana called Badhai Ho. That movie received a lot of appreciation from the critics and the audiences.
Later, she appeared in a movie called Photograph (2019) with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. This movie was screened at the Sundance Film Festival and Sanya was recognized as a breakout talent after that.
