Schools reopened for final year JHS, SHS and university students

President Akufo-Addo in his 10th address to the nation on issues surrounding COVID-19 in Ghana has eased the restrictions put on schools, churches and social gatherings.

According to the president, the time is right after deeper consultation with stakeholders for schools, churches, mosques and social gatherings be opened in phases.

Announcing the easing of restrictions on schools, President Akufo-Addo announced that effective 15th   June 2020, final year students of universities, training colleges and other tertiary institutions are to report to school.

Also, final year students of senior high schools (SHSs) and second-year students of the Gold Track are to report to school on the 25th of June 2020.

Additionally, the president announced that final year students of Junior High Schools (JHSs) are to report to school effective 29th June 2020.

According to the president, final year students in JHSs, SHSs and Universities must have a number of  30, 25 and half the class size of students per class respectively.

However, President Akuffo-Addo stressed on the fact that class sizes must be minimal, manageable and spacious with adherence to the safety protocols and other COVID-19 preventive measures.

“Final year students are to report to school on 15th June 2020, final year students of the Senior High Schools (SHSs) and second year students of the Gold Track are to report on 25th June 2020 and final year students of the Junior High Schools are to report to their schools on 29th June 2020 in order to complete their exit exams,” the president said.
