KT Hammond says the security officials deployed in the Volta Region are there to ensure that no Togolese or any foreigner partake in the new Voters registration.

Lawyer and a Member of Parliament for Adansi-Asokwa in the Ashanti Region of Ghana – Kobina Tahir Hammond has disclosed the main reason why the heavy security officials have been deployed into the Volta Region.

Speaking to Joy News, the lawmaker said the officials are there to ensure that no Togelise or foreigner partakes in the voters’ registration.

He backed his claim with the 2008 run-off which had the Ketu South, a municipality closer to the main border of Togo bagging huge figures during the second voting process.

KT Hammond blamed it on the people that trooped in from Togo to vote.

He explained that the officers will ensure that you are a Ghanaian and legal to vote before you do so on the day or even register for the new voters’ card.

His explanation comes after the Ketu South NDC issued a press statement condemning government’s alleged plans to intimidate the people of the Volta Region by sending military officers there.

Meanwhile, the Volta Region’s Awomefia of Anlo – Togbi Sri has warned the politicians behind the deployment of military officers into his Region ahead of time.
