The Electoral Commission has given an update on their recess due to the Christmas and New Year break.

In their first notice, they said their outfit will go on break from December 23rd 2020 till January 19, 2021.

However, in the new update, they noted that senior leadership position holders will remain at post to continue working.

The press release indicates that “this break is aimed at promoting efficiency, while reducing staff and administrative costs.

“The senior leadership and some key operational staff of the Electoral Commission will however continue to work during the break to engage with key stakeholders in pursuance of our mandate to the people of Ghana”

ec recess

When the EC came out with their first notice of recess, a lot of people argued on social media that it was a deliberate plan to deny the NDC party their chance of demanding a review of the recently held 2020 elections.

Because according to them, some irregularities at the side of the EC is what caused them to lose certain parliamentary seats. The NDC is also saying the presidential results is not a true representation of how the people of Ghana voted.
