Gospel musician and pastor, Dr. Sonnie Badu, has put across a suggestion that the Kotoka International Airport should be renamed after late former president Jerry John Rawlings.

In a tribute via Instagram, he praised the former president for his exemplary lifestyle which is worth emulation.

He wrote: “JJ do something before you die” that was the chants !!! You indeed did all you needed to you …. You will always be a role model to some of us. Thank you for all you did for Ghana. Your burial is so beautiful it makes some of us want to work even harder and make the nation proud”

He then went ahead to tell President Nana Addo that won’t it be good if he renamed Kotoka International Airport after JJ Rawlings?

Now dear president, @nakufoaddo How about Kotoka international airport being changed to JJ Rawlings International Airport?“, he quizzed.

Again, Sonnie Badu added that it would be nice to hear the name of JJ Rawlings at different airports across the world.

In all honesty It would be nice to hear his name more often all over the world at different airports “ flight 737 flying to Jerry John Rawlings International Airport Accra, Ghana “ … I know God will touch your heart to do this … just saying ?“, he wrote in conclusion.

According to him, Major General Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka after whom the airport was named was the one who betrayed the first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Meanwhile, General Kotoka was the best friend of Nkrumah so betraying him is nothing to write home about.

Hence, spiritually, he’s not worthy to be named after an important place as the airport.
