Sophie married Themba Ndaba with whom she had two children, Rudo and Lwandle. However, their marriage ended and Sophie remarried Max Lichaba in the year 2017. She adopted her niece, Shallon when her sister, Tiny Mphasane died.

She rose to fame when she played the role Queen Moroka in the popular soap opera known as Generations.
She has also starred in movies such as She is King, Class of ’92, Egoli: Place of Gold, Generations, Gog’ Helen, Yizo Yizo, Soul City among many others. In the year 2016, Sophie was one of the guest judges at the Miss South Africa 2016 beauty pageant finals.
