It could be recalled that, the Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu released a letter declaring her outfit’s intention to reduce the number of channels the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation operates on the National Digital Terrestrial Television Platform from six to three channels.

A decision which has triggered many agitations from stakeholders and concerned citizens alike, with many referring to the directive as dictatorial in nature and that, the ministry does not have the required mandate to give such directives. The National Media Commission (NMC) stated clearly that, such others are outside the remits of the Communications Ministry.

Well, the president has just shot down the decision. A statement released by the Communications Directorate of the Jubilee House and signed by the Director of communications, Eugene Arhin indicated that, the President has directed the communications Minister to suspend her ministry’s decision. According to the release, there will be further consultation with stake holders on the matter. Read the report below:
