President John Magufuli of Tanzania has insisted that he is not going to shut the borders or put the country under a Coronavirus-induced lockdown.

His display of blatant refusal is premised on his conviction and belief in God to take care of the spread of the virus in the country.

Tanzania is one of the largest countries in sub-Saharan Africa in terms of size and population. The current population of Tanzania is 59,734,218 but the president believes Coronavirus will dissipate by the grace of God.

Tanzania is yet to impose restrictions on social gatherings or allow the citizens to go under a lockdown. Life in Tanzania is as normal as is used to be with churches still open and public gatherings not forbidden.

However, its parliament has suspended sittings while three lawmakers have lost their lives to COVID-19.

Tanzania’s Coronavirus case count is at 480 with 16 deaths and 167 recovers. Active cases stand at 297.
