The Coen brothers strap on their spurs for this assortment of brief tales from the Wild West, all peppered with that trademark Coen absurdism made well-known of their movies Fargo and Elevating Arizona. The tales vary from a singing cowboy (Tim Blake Nelson) who’s fast on the draw to a mumbling prospector (Tom Waits) tracked down by an opportunist to an outlaw (James Franco) who’s no stranger to the gallows. It is a beautiful movie about alternative in a land the place there’s nothing however alternative. -Tim Surette [Trailer]
