There were reports yesterday, 24th December, 2018 that Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has revealed he is unhappy at a lack of regular playing time at Atletico Madrid.
Partey only signed a new long-term deal with Atletico in March but only half of his 14 league appearances this season have been starts.
He has struggled for playing time following the return of Rodrigo from Villarreal in the summer and he has let his frustrations be known.
“Sometimes I feel unhappy in Atleti,” Thomas said in a statement to Gol.
“To feel happy you have to play the important matches and feel stronger and more confident.”
He, however, declared, in this sense, that he has had a “very good season” so far, “There have been games that I’ve played well.”
The 25-year-old has scored two goals in all competitions.
Well, the “African Player of the Year” 2018 nominee has taken to his Instagram account to address these reports.
According to him, his statement was misunderstood by most media houses.
So he’s happy at Atlético Madrid…that’s where he wants to stay and grow as a footballer.
Below is his full statement:
“On Saturday after the match I made some statements that have not been understood well and I prefer to explain myself better.
The Atleti is the club where I want to be and in which I would like to continue growing as a player, for the club and for the Aficion.
And it is true that I feel that I can still be more important and that is why I work hard every day. I do not want to conform and that’s good to be the best player I can be. Merry Christmas and Aúpa Atleti!”
