Top officials of the government who have contracted COVID-19

As of now, there are several members of the governing party, NPP, who have been confirmed as COVID-19 patients.

These individuals include Kwaku Agyemang Manu who is the Health Minister. He contracted the disease in June and currently receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre. However, his current condition is unknown.

Also, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah, has contracted the deadly COVID-19 and currently admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The third confirmed case of Coronavirus patient who is a member of the governing party is the NPP’s Campaign Manager, Peter Mac Manu who is also receiving care at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr Lydia Dsane-Selby, also tested positive for the Coronavirus within the same period.

Other individuals of the government party who have shown symptoms of COVID-19 but are yet to be confirmed include Education Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

Sadly, some of these government officials have lost their lives including the recent passing of Kwadwo Owusu Afrityie aka Sir John who died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital yesterday after contracting the virus.

Mayor of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, K.K. Sam, has also passed on after he tested positive for COVID-19.

Ghana Coronavirus case count is at 18,134 with 117 deaths and 13,550 recoveries. Ghana has 4,467 active cases.
