At UT Austin, Britta Hanson is pursuing a PhD in media studies. She received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern and her master’s degree from USC. She has articles published in Flow, Film & History, The Velvet Light Trap, and The Spectator. She is a budding media historian. She co-founded their Queer Screening Series and has served as the director of the UT Queer Graduate Student Association. She was chosen twice to serve as The Velvet Light Trap’s Lead Coordinating Editor, and she currently serves as its Managing Editor. Her areas of interest in research include gender and sexuality in the media industries, international flows, and adaptation. Her dissertation investigates the trans-industrial flows of post-World War II American media with a particular emphasis on theatrical adaptation’s impact on film and television.

Track Palin wed Britta Hanson, his high school sweetheart, in May 2011 while she was still a nursing student. The couple exchanged vows in front of both of their families in Hatcher Pass, Alaska.
When the Palin and Hanson families got married, they exclaimed as a group, “Our families couldn’t be happier!” They are two young adults who grew up together and who work hard, are modest, enthusiastic, and are academically inclined.
