Trevor Reed: Why Was He Detained?
Russians arrested Reed in 2019. Russian authorities accused him of assaulting Russian police officers where he grabbed a police officer who become driving and whilst the opposite one attempted to interfere, he allegedly elbowed him.
People have criticized Reed’s jailing as a plot pushed by political pastimes. The jail authorities allegedly treated Trevor unfairly in prison.
The Russian court docket sentenced Reed to 9 years in jail in 2020. Later in 2021, he went on a starvation strike to protest against the Russian government concerning the infringement of his human rights within the prison.
Reed parents met US President Joe Biden with reference to their son’s launch from the Russian jail. Reed’s release is part of a prisoner swap for Konstantin Yaroshenko, a Russian national.
Yaroshenko was convicted of cocaine smuggling in 2011 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He has vehemently denied the charges levied against him.

Trevor has been released from Russian custody.
