The brothers and their sister Janine were raised in Luton, England, by their father, the International Chess Master Emory Tate, and their mother, a recluse who prefers to stay out of the spotlight.
As early as he can remember, Tristan has been interested in kickboxing, and he and his brother have since started training together.
Tristan had won the most of his amateur kickboxing matches and hoped to make a career out of the sport, but a car accident left him with a disabling shoulder injury and forced him to abandon his dreams.
According to Tristan, who moved to Romania and founded a firm there that appears to be doing very well currently judging by the car he drives, the tragedy may have been a gift in disguise because it allowed him to focus on being a successful businessman.
