Gerald Michael Gabbard, the father of Tulsi is a Samoan-American politician, was born on January 15, 1948. Since 2006, he has represented the Democratic party in Hawaii’s State Senate District 20. By passing a 1998 amendment to the Hawaii state constitution that gave the state legislature “the right to reserve marriage to opposite-sex couples” in accordance with the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, Gabbard gained notoriety for her attempts to block same-sex marriage in Hawai’i. The first person of Samoan heritage to hold a position in the Hawaii Senate is Gabbard, who was born in American Samoa.

Senator Mike Gabbard’s wife, Carol Porter Gabbard, is the mother of Tulsi Gabbard, a candidate for president in 2020. Gerald Michael “Mike” Gabbard and Carol Porter Gabbard have been wed for more than 50 years. On December 27, 1968, in East Grand Rapids, Michigan, the couple exchanged vows.
At 1967, Carol and Mike first connected in California’s Yosemite National Park.
At the time, they were both employed by the Camp Curry Cafeteria. Carol worked as a waiter while Mike worked as a cashier. Together with her spouse Mike Gabbard, Carol Porter Gabbard has five kids.
She welcomed two girls, Tulsi, and Vrindavan, as well as three males, Bhakti, Jai, and Narayan.
