Uma Devi Pemmaraju, an Indian-American journalist and television host, was born in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, on March 31, 1958.

She was raised in San Antonio, Texas, even though she was born in India.

Her early television career was launched at KENS-TV in her native state of Texas after Uma Pemmaraju, as she is more widely known, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Trinity University in Texas. While maintaining a full-time course load at Trinity University, she worked as a producer and reporter for the San Antonio Express-News newspaper.

 

Pemmaraju was a host/anchor of “America’s News Headquarters w/Uma Pemmaraju” for Fox News in New York and one of the initial hosts on the Fox News cable network at its 1996 debut.

She was a reporter for Bloomberg News as well.
