Roger Mayweather who was the trainer and uncle of world boxer icon Floyd Mayweather has died after several years of ill-health.

An excerpt of statement coming in from Mayweather Promotions reads:

“Roger was a great champion and one of the best trainers in boxing. My uncle was one of the most important people in my life inside and outside of the ring. Unfortunately, his health was failing him for several years and now he can finally rest in peace. Roger meant the world to me, my father Floyd Sr, my uncle Jeff, our whole family, everyone in and around the Mayweather Boxing Gym and the entire boxing world. It is a terrible loss for all of us, Roger’s spirit lives on with us forever.”

The cause of his death is not immediately known but it is obvious the immense contribution Roger made to the success of Mayweather’s boxing career.

About a week ago, Mayweather’s ex-girlfriend Josie Harris was found dead in her car.

This year should be a hard one for Floyd.
