Anna May Wong was an American actress who was born on January 3, 1905 and died on February 3, 1961. She is widely regarded as the first Chinese-American movie star in Hollywood and was also the first Chinese-American actress to achieve international recognition.

Anna was on the verge of an emotional collapse when her father took her to a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Wong later claimed that the therapies worked in large part because she actively avoided them. Wong’s own philosophy was significantly inspired by various Chinese philosophies, especially Taoism and the teachings of Laozi, which she studied throughout her life. Confucianism and Taoism are two examples of such philosophies.

Was Anna May Wong religious?

She went to a Presbyterian church growing up and then converted to Christian Science as an adult. Anna’s family also had a strong Christian worldview in their religious beliefs.

In 1921, Wong dropped out of Los Angeles High School to focus on acting full-time because she could not balance her acting and academic pursuits.
