Dawn DeSart, a DuPage County board member, didn’t know Gwen Casten, but she was recently hailed as a “hero” for organizing a first aid course for her high school classmates in the wake of a shooting.
DeSart told the Tribune that Gwen Casten introduced “Stop the Bleed” training at her school to teach students how to stop the bleeding after a school shooting.
