Darius originally gained notoriety in 2001 when he participated in the Hear’Say-winning, Liberty X-launching ITV talent show Popstars.
In January and February 2010, Campbell took first place in the ITV talent competition Popstar to Operastar, which saw eight pop stars trained to sing arias from great operas. The famed tenor Rolando Villazón, with whom he later cut a duet on the song “The Impossible Dream,” served as his instructor.
