Richard Bruce Cheney is a prominent politician and successful businessman from the United States of America. He served as the 46th Vice President of the United States under the administration of President George W. Bush from 2001 until 2009.
Since Walter Mondale passed away in 2021, he holds the title of being the oldest former Vice President of the United States who is still alive. Cheney was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, and spent his childhood there as well as in Casper, Wyoming.
He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in political science from the University of Wyoming after attending Yale University for his undergraduate education.
He started his career in politics as an intern for Congressman William A. Steiger and eventually worked his way into the White House under the administrations of both Nixon and Ford.
Between the years 1975 and 1977, he was the Chief of Staff at the White House. After being elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1978, he served as the representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district from 1979 to 1989. In 1989, he also held the position of House minority whip for a short period of time.
