In July 2011, TBI began giving Blue Alerts. The framework, commanded by Tennessee Code (TCA 38-6-122), was made with the express aim of “giving fast dispersal of data to general society to help with securing rough hoodlums who kill or genuinely harm cops in the line of obligation or to support finding a missing official where treachery is involved.”
What is a Tennessee blue alert?
The TBI’s Criminal Intelligence Unit team is responsible for sending out the notices.
TBI officials will confirm that the Blue Notice requirements have been completed before issuing the alert after receiving a request from a law enforcement agency that a law enforcement officer has died or suffered serious injuries.
