Graham served in a number of capacities within the Canadian Liberal Party, including that of Foreign Minister, Minister of National Defense, and Leader of the Opposition. After leaving politics, he held the position of Chancellor of Trinity College at the University of Toronto.

Graham was raised in a prosperous household and went to school in both Vancouver, British Columbia, and Montreal, Quebec.

Bill is a child of his parents’ second marriages (mother Helen Bailey was Graham’s second wife); his father, Francis Ronald Graham Sr., was a business magnate and Honorary Colonel of the Vancouver Gunners.

Uncertainty surrounds his mother’s separation from Loring Bailey Sr., her first husband, which took place a few months before Graham was born.
