Mr. T is an American actor who was born Laurence Tureaud on May 21, 1952. He is most recognized for his roles as B. A. Baracus in The A-Team in the 1980s and as boxer Clubber Lang in Rocky III in 1982. He is also known for his distinctive hairstyle, which was inspired by Mandinka warriors in West Africa, his copious gold jewelry, his tough-guy persona, and his catchphrase “I pity the fool!”, which he first uttered as Clubber Lang in Rocky III, then became a trademark used in slogans or titles, such as the reality show I Pity the Fool, which premiered in 2006. He was diagnosed with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, also known as mycosis fungoides, in 1995. He laughed about the coincidence once he was in remission: “Could you imagine? Cancer that bears my name — individualized cancer!” Cancer Saved My Life (Cancer Ain’t For No Wimps) is his unpublished book on this incident. In Dancing with the Stars, he made a direct reference to it while performing a waltz to the song Amazing Grace.
