The 35th SummerSlam live professional wrestling event, presented by WWE, took place in 2022. It was open to the promotion’s Raw and SmackDown brand divisions’ wrestlers. The event was broadcast on pay-per-view (PPV) in every country and livestreamed on Peacock in the US and the WWE Network overseas. The first SummerSlam to not take place in August was hosted on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Additionally, neither the pre-show nor the main card featured any title changes, making this the first SummerSlam in 15 years to do so.
At the event, eight matches were held. Roman Reigns won the Last Man Standing battle in the main event against Brock Lesnar to keep the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) defeated The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) to retain the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship, and in the main event, Bianca Belair defeated Becky Lynch to retain the Raw Women’s Championship. Pat McAfee also defeated Happy Corbin, Logan Paul defeated The Miz, and The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) defeated The Street Profits to retain the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Bayley, Dakota Kai (who had been released from her WWE contract in April), Iyo Sky (formerly known as Io Shirai), and Edge also made their comebacks at the event.
What time does SummerSlam come on?
On Saturday night, WWE SummerSlam will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Nissan Stadium. An hour earlier, at 7 p.m. ET, on Peacock, there will be a kickoff show before it starts at 8 p.m. ET.
