Claudia earned a law degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona in 1988. She also holds master’s degrees in international human rights law from the Human Rights Center at the University of Essex (United Kingdom) in 1990 and European studies from the Institute for European Studies at the UAB in 1993. In 1995, the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona awarded her a unanimous doctorate cum laude in law. Claudia Jiménez has been a professor with a focus in public international law since 1997. She primarily studies international criminal law, international trade, human rights, and the external relations of the European Union.
She provides instruction at the college level in the fields of law, political science, and criminology. She teaches courses at the post-graduate level for the UAB’s Master of International Relations, Security, and Development, the IBEI’s Master of International Studies, and the Master in Women and Gender, among other programs. Her most recent articles in the field of inquiry have to do with international trade, EU external relations, or international criminal law. She currently participates in the AGAUR-recognized Consolidated Research Group on the European Union’s Area of Freedom, Security, and Justice.
