Harold Henthorn was a very cunning and ingenious killer. Based on evidence that he also killed his first wife, Sandra “Lynn” Henthorn, a jury found him guilty of killing his second wife, Toni Bertolet. Authorities had deemed Sandra’s death an accident, but when Harold pulled the same prank on Toni, they realized that Harold was actually a cold-blooded, avaricious murderer. In order to inherit from life insurance plans, Henthorn murdered his wives. He received $500,000 after Lynn’s passing and intended to receive a sizable chunk of Toni’s $4.7 million life insurance payout. But Harold wouldn’t be able to enjoy the money because the prosecution persuaded the jury that he was guilty. He was given a life sentence without the possibility of release by the court.

In Terre Haute, Indiana, a federal jailhouses Harold. He most certainly won’t leave the federal prison system until he dies. After the US Supreme Court declined to consider his case, Henthorn stands little hope of successfully appealing his trial or conviction.
