He was chosen by the Tampa Bay Rays in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2018. In 2015 and 2016, he participated in collegiate baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Orleans Firebirds.

In 2016, he was chosen as a league all-star. 2018 saw him make a transfer to California State University, Stanislaus.

Ryan was traded to the Minnesota Twins on July 22, 2021, while he was representing the United States in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, along with Drew Strotman, for Nelson Cruz and Calvin Faucher.

 

After Ryan made two starts for the Triple-A St. Paul Saints, compiling an ERA of 2.00 with 17 strikeouts, the Twins selected his contract when the rosters expanded.

 

Where Is Joe Ryan Now?

He now plies his trade for the Minnesota Twins (MLB).
On September 1, 2021, Ryan took the field in his first Major League Baseball game against the Chicago Cubs. He went five innings, giving up three runs while striking out five.
Ryan will start the opening day game against the Seattle Mariners on April 1, 2022, manager Rocco Baldelli announced.
