“We did a traditional wedding ceremony and that was what my Dad wanted which is the normal way so Sulley’s family respected that. We never did a white wedding because we all didn’t want to at that moment,” she said in an exclusive interview.

Menaye Donkor stressed that white weddings are of no relevance in the Ghanaian and most African circles since the real seal of marriage is the traditional ceremony that is performed.

“I think (white wedding) is just a party and not a wedding because if you have already registered your marriage, legally you are his wife. It is just a party and we have parties every day,” she said.

Menaye Donkor is a Canadian-born Ghanaian businesswoman, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former beauty queen who was named Miss Universe Ghana 2004 and represented Ghana in Miss Universe 2004.
