Many of Brown’s speeches claim that when he first tried to break into public radio, he had a string of failures. He wasn’t employed on a full-time basis until the afternoon DJ’s on-air missteps the day before. After being fired from the radio station, he successfully ran for and was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives. He changed his profession to television after leaving the Ohio State Legislature and started hosting PBS. He served as the presenter of the talk show The Les Brown Show from September to November 1993. From 2011 to 2012, Brown hosted a daily syndicated radio show on KFWB in California.
