The news came a day after an independent disciplinary officer banned Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Deshaun Watson for six games. The National Football League (NFL) made public on Tuesday its conclusions about the tampering and tanking case that had been brought against the Miami Dolphins, who were given a severe penalty for breaking the “integrity of the game.”

Why did the Dolphins lose draft pick?

After an investigation, the National Football League determined that the Miami Dolphins were responsible for tampering with Tom Brady and Sean Payton while they were still under contract with other NFL teams. As a result, the Dolphins were fined two draft picks, one of which was a first-round pick in 2023. As a consequence of the inquiry, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was given a monetary penalty as well as a suspension.
