Why many Africans oppose Trump’s WHO funding decision, where Trump & WHO went wrong.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday April 14, announced that he has stopped US’ funding of the World Health Organization over its “role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of coronavirus.”

The US President who disclosed that a review is currently being conducted, stated that the UN agency failed “in its basic duty”. He added that the most dangerous and costly decisions from the WHO, was its disastrous decision to oppose travel restrictions from China and other nations.

Trump told journalist at the White House;

“Today I am directing my administration to halt funding while a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus.

“American taxpayers provide between $400 million and $500 million per year to the WHO and in contrast, China contributes $40 million a year or even less.

“As the organisation’s leading sponsor, the United States has a duty to insist on full accountability. One of the most dangerous and costly decisions from the WHO was its disastrous decision to oppose travel restrictions from China and other nations.

“The WHO failed in its basic duty and must be held accountable.

“Had the WHO done its job to get medical experts into China to objectively assess the situation on the ground and to call out China’s lack of transparency, the outbreak could have been contained at its source with very little death,” he told reporters.

“This would have saved thousands of lives and avoided worldwide economic damage. Instead, the WHO willingly took China’s assurances to face value… and defended the actions of the Chinese government.

“With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have deep concerns whether America’s generosity has been put to the best use possible.”

WHY MANY AFRICANS OPPOSE TRUMP’S DECISION.

Many are of the view that, because the director of the WHO is an African , Trump thinks he is not managing this pandemic very well . He always think African are not smart and intelligent enough. That might not be the case.

If Trump has decided to cuts funds for WHO,
It is mostly africans and poor countries who will suffer. And that’s why many Africans oppose it.

Not because cutting funds is wrong.

But because we hate to tell ourselves the truth that we ruined our countries and now we will suffer if WHO suffers.

If we built our countries and made healthcare affordable and accessible to the majority of people, it wouldn’t matter to us too much who funds WHO or who is cutting funds.

We ruined our own countries.
We relied too heavily on organisations like WHO. And now we may suffer for it.

Because think about it:
It is America’s money to donate.

They have the highest cases and deaths from Coronavirus. Their economy has suffered the highest impact. They make the most donations to WHO.

If they feel WHO has been incompetent,
Do you blame them for cutting funding?

“Oh but they should not cut funding in the middle of a pandemic”

Well, you can’t tell someone how to spend their own money. Or when to choose not to spend it

At the end of the day, it is America’s choice to make. And if anyone feels angry and generous enough, donate to WHO.

The amount of lies African leaders have said this period to make China look good is amazing and like a hero is crazy.

It’s high time African countries are weaned off these mummies benefits. We should man up.

WHERE DID W.H.O WENT WRONG AND WHAT SHOULD THEY HAVE DONE?

WHO failed in its responsibility to contain the virus or at least warn other countries that the virus was deadly highly contagious.

WHO Should have advised immediate closure of borders and halting of flights. Instead it assisted China in its biological warfare. China was able to dispatch its weapon to all corners of the globe! Now the world economy is at its knees except that of China!.

WHO must use under cover intelligence, knowing the very history and track record of such countries in providing false data and information.

Then again, based on this same past history of countries providing false data and information, WHO MUST have instituted punishment procedures to deter such criminal practices, just like IMF and world Bank have in punishing countries who provide false economic and financial data and information. It is a crime against humanity.

IS AMERICA WRONG FOR BLAMING W.H.O ?

The USA has representatives on the WHO board so it can’t be that the USA didnt know what WHO knew.

Secondly, WHO is not responsible for closing borders. Lets not forget other countries like Australia, Denmark, New Zealand, etc have used the same WHO information to deal with the pandemic successfully in their countries.

Trump blames China, blames WHO, blames Obama, blames everyone but not himself. It is the same information from WHO that other countries have used to deal with the pandemic successfully in their countries.

So Trump and the USA can also be blamed.
