A Ghanaian Twitter user @iamowusua is left wondering why Grammy Awards is being used to judge musicians in our own continent.

The Grammys has become one of the most sort after awards almost every musician want to grab his/her hands on. any artists who is not able to get such recognition is considered as not good enough according to some critics in the continent.

It’s not the same with the said Twitter user who believes it’s totally wrong to judge an artist in Africa based on an award organized by a group of people available in a different continent. She described this assertion as a mental Edition of neocolonialism.

“But why should the Grammy’s be the yardstick in measuring our musical talent as Africans ? Low key it’s neocolonialism (Mental Edition) but we’ll all have that convo oneday.” She wrote.
