Giles Corey was an English-American farmer who was accused of witchcraft along with his wife Martha Corey during the Salem witch trials. Giles Corey was born in August 1611 in Northampton, England. Giles Corey after he was arrested was refused to enter guilty or not guilty.
On September 22, 1692, three days after Corey was executed, Martha was hanged. She had a son named Thomas from a previous marriage, and he appeared as a petitioner for loss and damages brought on by his mother’s unjust execution during the witch trials. On June 29, 1723, £50 was granted to him.
A few years after his unlawful judgement, Giles Corey’s criminal status was updated to him being innocent after several analyses of his case.
