Da Costa also coached USM Libreville and Vantour Mangoungou in addition to managing the Gabon U-17 National Team.
The Gabonese professional football manager led the senior national team of Gabon from 1987 to 1989 and from 1994 to 1997. The Gabonese Panthères hired him as their new coach in June 2000.
Da Costa was named president of the Gabonese Football Federation in 2013. Alain da Costa has won various honors for his outstanding work and charity contributions to the football community, including the 1987 Coupe du Gabon Interclub, the 1988 CEMAC Cup, the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals, the 1987 African U-17 Championship quarterfinals, and many others.
