Since Alain da Costa Soares passed away on January 9, 2023, he is currently a topic of discussion. He was born in 1935 and is a well-known Gabonese professional football manager. Da Coasta also served as a coach for numerous teams, including USM Libreville and Vantour Mangoungou. Da Costa managed the senior national team of Gabon from 1987 to 1989 and from 1994 to 1997 in addition to managing the U17 national team.
In June 2000, Alain da Costa was appointed the new head coach of the Gabonese Panthères. He was also appointed president of the Gabonese Football Federation in 2013. Because of his dedication, Da Coasta received the Coupe du Gabon intercluns award in 1987. Among many others, Alain da Costa won the CEMAC Cup in 1988 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1996.
