Alan Rankine, who was born on 17 May 1958, is a record producer, and a popular musician. He co-founded a rock band, known as The Associates. Alan is the keyboardist and guitarist for the Associates.
Rankine quit the band group, during the eve of a Sulk tour in 1982, he then developed himself as a producer, and worked with several musicians including Paul Haig, Cocteau Twins, and the Pale Fountains, while Mackenzie continued with other collaborators. Later on, Rankine served as a lecturer at Glasgow’s Stow College until 2010, which he resigned to pursue music production full-time. During his time as a lecturer, he assisted students in creating Electric Honey, their own in-house record label that launched the careers of artists like Belle and Sebastian, Snow Patrol, and Biffy Clyro.
