Cornet made her Grand Slam singles debut at the age of 15 in the 2005 French Open after receiving a singles main-draw wildcard. She won her sole Grand Slam singles title at the 2007 French Open.
She has won six singles and three doubles titles on the WTA Tour as well as three singles and three doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. She reached her highest WTA singles rankings of World No.11 on February 26, 2009. She is currently the No.1 French singles tennis player.
She became known for defeating World No.1 Serena Williams, on three occasions.
At the Wimbledon Championship, she ended up upsetting Williams in the third round, in July and this earned Williams her earliest exit at the tournament in 2005.
Cornet had an impressive junior record, being ranked World No.8 in June 2007.
