Anisimova started playing tennis at a very young age, coached by her father Konstantin and alongside her talented older sister.

When Anisimova was very young, her parents made the decision to relocate to Florida in order to provide their kids with better training possibilities.

Anisimova achieved a world ranking of No. 2 as a junior. She won two further Grade-A titles in addition to the girls’ singles title at the 2017 US Open.

She also became the first American to reach the final of the girls’ singles competition at the French Open in 14 years.

Anisimova gained notoriety on the WTA Tour at the 2018 Indian Wells Open, defeating Petra Kvitová at 16 to earn her maiden top-10 triumph. At the Copa Colsanitas in April 2019, she won her maiden WTA championship.

At the Melbourne Summer Set in January 2022, she won her second title. 2019 saw her make her first two Grand Slam tournament breakthroughs.

She advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open by defeating No. 11 Aryna Sabalenka, one of the top contenders for the title.

She defeated Simona Halep, the defending champion and No. 3 in the world, at the French Open to advance to the semifinals, becoming the tournament’s youngest semifinalist in over ten years.

The following major tournament she advanced to the fourth round of was the 2022 Australian Open, when she defeated reigning champion Naomi Osaka.
