On November 26, 1978 in Riga, Andrejs Rubins was born. He was a football player who featured for several teams like Spartak Moscow. Shinnik Yaroslavl, Osters IF, Qarabag and many others during his playing days. He also played for the Latvian national team with over 117 caps, scoring 9 goals.
He won several honours including the Azerbaijan premier league with Inter Baku, the Latvian premier league on three occasions from 1998, 1999 and 2000, runners up in the Russian league, winner of the Latvian cup and many others.
After retirement, he became a professional coach. In 2014- 2022, he served as the assistant coach for FK Ogre, a Latvian based team.
He passed away on August 2, 2022 at the age of 43.
